ABOUT THE TOPICS

Demystifying UbD
This topic aims to bridge instructional designs commonly used by teachers and the design popularly called UbD. The exercise, in line with the thinking of constructivists, will enable learners (in this case, the teachers) to hook the new idea being learned (in this case, UbD) onto their existing knowledge framework; otherwise, the new idea will be lost soon after it is taught.

Preparing the School for UbD (Action Sharing)
This topic aims to show administrators and teachers why schools should consider adopting the design principles of the UbD framework and how the shift to UbD can be managed purposefully. It will also  present some strategies and actions to be considered by administrators in addressing the various phases of  the UbD’s implementation.

UbD Through ICTs
UbD is simply about designing lessons for better understanding. The key is to first gain enough competence in the area so
teachers will have the confidence to choose the best topics and strategies for their students. ICTs provide excellent
opportunities for teachers to prepare better for their classes, deliver media-rich content and assess students understanding.
Teachers today must be able to use the same (ICT) tools that their students use to become more effective.
