About the author:

Lina B. Diaz de Rivera is a children's book author and a professor at the College of Education, University of the Philippines. She received the second prize in the 1996 Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature for her piece entitled "The Gem."

She earned her bachelor's degree in English from the Far Eastern University and received her doctorate in English and her master's degree in reading from the University of the Philippines. She authored several books for children and textbooks including "Ferry in the Sun," "Golden Galleon," and "English for High School."
