About the author:

Carla Pacis is a lecturer at the English Department of University of the Philippines Diliman and is a Resident Fellow of the UP Creative Writing Center. She received her master's degree in creative writing from the University of the Philippines and her bachelor's degree in economics from Assumption College.

She is known for her stories "The Dream Weavers" for which she bagged the second prize in Children's Short Story category of the prestigious Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature in 1995. She also received Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY) Writer's Prize for her short stories for children.

She has published several books for children, such as "There's a Snake in the House," "All From the Same Tree," and "Owl Friends." She also edited "Water in the Ring of Fire," a collection of folk tales.
